What did I enjoy the most? : The thing I enjoyed most from this class was doing the assignments and trying to find creative ways to create my artwork. What did I not enjoy the most? : The class itself was mostly waiting for the teacher to call our names and go to show our work in order to get feedback. There was a long wait till we had to do that and it felt like the class dragged because of it. What have I learnt about myself through this module? : I learnt that i still have to improve my time management skills and start doing my work earlier. What has changed and wha...

Week 5 - 7 Name: Abdullah Yazdan Zahid ID: 0367869 Course: Bachelor of design (Hons) In creative media INSTRUCTIONS Google drive link Task 3 Create a new design based on the previously analysed design while correctly applying the principles of design in your work. Mood board Fig 1.1 references: Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Sketches SKETCH 1 Fig 1.2 Fig 1.3 My first sketch was the least similar to the other sketches as I went in a more abstract and simple design. It shows a plastic bottle in the shape of a fish getting caught by a fishing hook represented by a straw. I also limited myself to only two colors for this sketch. SKETCH 2 Fig 1.4 Fig 1.5 For my second sketch I made it more comic style and created a scene were a cartoon fish is sitting in the middle of a trash heap in the bottom of the ocean pleading to save the ocean. I used gestalt theory by creating small silhouettes to create the illusion of a lot of trash being in the background. I also made a comic style spe...

Fig 1.1 - STRAWS by Jota Han, May 31st 2018, 1200 * 1649 px, Digital drawing  Image link Phase 1: Observation This image shows an un-suspecting turtle in the process of getting attacked by a shark. The turtle has surfaced on the ocean while the shark is below. However, the shark is represented by straws in this poster. There is also text written in red at the top with the word 'Straws' on it. The colors found are blue, white, red, magenta and yellow. (63 words) Phase 2: Analysis Firstly, there is a big contrast in colors between the shark and the turtle that creates a visually striking image . The shark is cluttered with random brighter colors whilst the turtle and the rest of the ocean is shown in a dull and tame color...

Digital Triptych - Exploring Scott McCloud's Transitions

Image
Name: Abdullah Yazdan Zahid ID: 0367869 Course: Bachelor of design (Hons) In creative media INSTRUCTIONS:  Apply Scott McCloud's theory on transitions to create a digital triptych, comprising three panels: one before, one during (climactic turning point), and one after a significant event. Each panel will represent a different transition type from McCloud's theory. SKETCHING AND IDEAS Mood board Sketches I began my sketches in photoshop. I wanted to find a good composition for all the panels. Final Artwork The first panel shows a car finding the Foolhudhigu Handi in the woods. For the second panel it is a close up of the monsters face. This is to emulate the view that the driver of the car sees while the monster is in front of it. I wanted to create the feel of a jump cut to the monsters face by using the close up. While shading the character I made sure to keep the lighting on the character from the headlights from the car. For the third panel I went back to the same positi...
