INSTRUCTIONS:

Apply Scott McCloud's theory on transitions to create a digital triptych, comprising three panels: one before, one during (climactic turning point), and one after a significant event. Each panel will represent a different transition type from McCloud's theory.

SKETCHING AND IDEAS

Mood board

Sketches

I began my sketches in photoshop. I wanted to find a good composition for all the panels.

Final Artwork

The first panel shows a car finding the Foolhudhigu Handi in the woods.

For the second panel it is a close up of the monsters face. This is to emulate the view that the driver of the car sees while the monster is in front of it. I wanted to create the feel of a jump cut to the monsters face by using the close up. While shading the character I made sure to keep the lighting on the character from the headlights from the car.

For the third panel I went back to the same position from panel. However, this time the cars headlights are turned off and the color palette has changed. This is to suggest that something bad has happened to the driver of the car. The color palette went from a warmer tone to a colder tone.
