IDEA DEVELOPMENT

 My biograpy

Tell us about yourself:

My name is Abdullah Yazdan Zahid. I grew up in a small island called Male’ from the Maldives. I am 19 years old. The things I find most interesting are videogames and animated films.

What is your passion?:

My passion is 3D animation. When I was younger I started using an application called blender. This was a free 3D art software. Since I started using Blender my passion for 3D art sky rocketed. I started by modeling 2D characters from games and cartoons in 3D, then i started making short animations.

What motivates you to achieve your dream?:

What motivates me to achieve my dream of becoming a 3D animator is the joy of seeing something being brought to life in a 3D space.

How do you want to visualize your dream into your artwork?:

I will make an artwork that is representative of how i am feeling right now. I will also incorporate my 3D art into the background of the poster.

Tell us about your work:

My work is based on my current mental status and what i'm going through right now.

What is the concept behind it?:

I am a very socially anxious person. I wanted to represent what it feels like for someone with anxiety when they are talked to or interacted with.

What is the concept you want people to understand?:

The feeling of discomfort and panic that is felt when you feel anxious around people.

What is your motto / quote:

“The lone one is seen”

SKETCH PROGRESS #2

Process - Illustrator

For my font I went with a Serif inspired font. My fonts is named yerif and it is a capital only font.

Then I started to create patterns using the curvature tool in illustrator. These patterns will later be used in the background of my final poster.

Process - Photoshop

I first started by seperating my background from the main image and doing some color correction on the image using the rgb curves.

I then added the patterns i made in illustrator and used the smudge tool on it to create a wave like look.

I then added a 3D sphere which i created in Blender

Then i used smudge tool and created the wavey background and also used blend modes to create a color overlay.

I then finalised the poster by adding my font and creating a censor bar over my eyes.

Process - After effects

For the animation of the poster i went with a song called human sadness by The Voidz. I went with this song because it thematically fits with my video and it also envokes a feeling of anxiety.

I adjusted the sound levels of the song and also made the song fade out more towards the end.

I added a glitch effect to the animations background and also a second effect where the background is distorted and lifted momentarily.

Artist statement

For this poster i wanted to convey how it feels to have social anxiety. I tried to show the panicked and chaotic emotions that people with anxiety have. The composition is deliberately chaotic, reflecting the erratic nature of anxiety. Layers of intricate details and frenetic lines intertwine, forming a tapestry of unease that mirrors the intricate threads of one's own anxious thoughts. The color palette, dominated by shades of somber blues and harsh reds, evokes the emotional spectrum ranging from melancholy to the suffocating intensity of anxiety.

REFLECTIONS

This class has been a huge learning experience for me. I got the opportunity to delve deeper into the intricacies of photoshop. I also got to learn after effects, which was very intimidating before I started using it. I feel that my photoshop skills have improved since I started this class.
